IDF has been promoting pond fish culture among the group members with a view to increase fish production and ensure access of the poor to fish protein, the largest protein supply in Bangladesh. IDF has also been implementing public awareness raising activities and alternative employment creation for fishermen families in order to reduce pressure on random fishing in the open waters, which is causing danger and extinction of many fishes as well as other creatures living in the water.
